The customer is an engine plant of a heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer. Robots are used to replace manual operations for final bolt tightening, improving assembly consistency. Multi-cylinder engines require high tightening torque. Although the workstation uses hydraulic fixtures, slight positioning deviations may still occur after the engine block is loaded. Vision compensation is therefore required to identify the real-time position and rotational orientation of pre-tightened bolts.
The ALSONTECH 3D vision system accurately detects the 3D pose of bolts before final tightening and guides the robot to complete the tightening operation. The vision system can also inspect the tightening result to help prevent missed bolts or incomplete tightening and improve overall workstation automation.
- Robot-assisted final tightening ensures standardized operation and controllable tightening quality through data-based verification. - Improves efficiency in high-torque tightening applications and reduces manual workload. - Supports different engine variants on the same workstation without additional hardware.
