Project Background:

The customer built a new automated machining line and introduced a 3D vision system to guide robots for depalletizing and machine loading of stacked slip-on flange blanks. The rough-machined parts are dark ring-shaped workpieces stacked together in large piles. Their poses are irregular, and the overall stack size requires large field-of-view coverage.

3D Vision Solution:

The customer selected an ALSONTECH large-FOV laser 3D camera, mounted at a higher position to cover large stacks. The system is highly compatible with dark and black light-absorbing workpieces, accurately obtains part pose coordinates, and guides the robot for precise picking, reducing labor intensity and improving automation efficiency.

- Compensates for stack placement deviation and obtains the 3D pose of individual workpieces for accurate robotic loading. - Adapts well to dark and black light-absorbing workpieces and generates complete, high-quality 3D point cloud data. - Replaces non-reusable positioning fixtures and enables fast switching and introduction of new part types according to production needs. - Routine maintenance only, system service life ≥5 years.

Customer Benefits:

- Flange blanks are heavy, and continuous handling is labor-intensive. 3D vision-guided robots reduce manual handling costs and the risk of workplace injury. - A single workstation can handle different part sizes according to production needs, with no additional hardware required for changeovers, significantly improving equipment utilization and reducing costs.
