Marine Steel Plate Grinding with 3D Vision
Customize Your Vision Solution

Project Background:

The customer is a large shipbuilding company that needs to sort and grind various types of small steel plate parts during production. After cutting, the steel plates have burrs and come in many different sizes and specifications. Manual robot teaching would require a large amount of work, so the customer wanted to eliminate the teaching process.

3D Vision Solution:

By introducing the ALSONTECH 3D vision system, the customer solved the challenge of recognizing randomly arranged incoming parts and enabled fast part sorting, guiding the robot to accurately pick and place parts onto the grinding table. At the same time, the 3D vision system automatically extracts grinding paths for the steel plates.

- The 3D vision system directly calculates grinding paths that meet the process requirements of the current workpiece and sends them to the robot, eliminating manual robot teaching. - A large-FOV 3D camera covers steel plate parts of different types and sizes, improving workstation capacity and efficiency. - The binocular 3D camera provides fine imaging and robust algorithms, and adapts well to sparks and dust generated during grinding. - Routine maintenance only, with automatic calibration, system service life ≥5 years.

Customer Benefits:

- Enables random sorting of steel plates in multiple specifications, reducing manual sorting work and labor intensity. - 3D vision algorithms eliminate robot teaching and programming workload, improving deployment efficiency and automation intelligence.
