Tianjin Port took the lead in realizing automation and unmanned operation at modern terminals through advanced process design, technology application, and equipment deployment. Since it was put into operation, personnel deployment has been reduced by 60% compared with automated container terminals of similar shoreline scale, construction investment has been reduced by 30%, and container transfer procedures have been reduced by 50%.
During the construction process, the “intelligent ground container unlocking station” was a major challenge. Before loading, each container must be locked to ensure transportation safety. During port transfer, the twistlocks need to be installed or removed. By introducing a 3D vision system, the customer achieved compatible recognition of more than 100 twistlock types from different countries and guided multiple robots to work together, enabling automated twistlock installation and removal.
